July 7 Tasting

Kristen Cooper of Vertical Wine and Beer will be pouring selections from Italy, France, Greece and Chile.

Undurraga Brut Rose $12.99
Light pink with tiny and persistent bubbles. Fruity (cherry) and floral (roses), delicate aroma. Fresh and dry with a juicy sensation. Perfect as an aperitif, by itself, with desserts or Asian food. 100% Pinot Noir.

Gaia 14-18h Agiorgitiko Rose 2016 $16.99
A particularly attractive deep rosé color, a fruity aroma with strong hints of cherry and gooseberry, typical of Agiorgitiko, and light, refreshing flavors characterize the wine. Enjoy it with salt-baked foods, white meat, pizza without garlic, and cold plates. It is particularly charming when combined with Chinese and Southeast Asian dishes.

Chavy-Chouet Les Femelottes Blanc 2014 $23.99
This is a charming, rich, focused and delightful white. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture, the wine has a fresh backbone of acidity, clean apple and citrus flavors, and an excellent balance. A most refreshing quaff and one that is great value. A charming, expressive wine of exceptional quality. De-classified Puligny-Montrachet. Delicious!

Terzetto Dolcetto d’Alba 2015 $11.99
Aromatic with bright blackberry and rose petal scents.  Medium bodied and dry with ripe cherry and earthy flavors, light tannins and moderate acidity.

Poderi dal Nespoli Nespolino Rosso 2014 $9.99
With an intense ruby red colour, it’s a fresh and easy-drinking wine. The main notes are cherry and violet, typical of sangiovese, together with herbs and chocolate aromas from merlot. Dry and harmonious, well-balanced wine. Pairs perfectly with pasta dishes. Sangiovese 70%, Merlot 30%

Aglaea Terre Siciliane 2013 $19.99
“What stands out for me in the 2013 “Aglaea” is its energy and young red Burgundy-like crunch. With some Etna wines I’ve tasted, I’ve found kindred qualities to Pinot Noir and Gamay on the nose but not the palate, which can often skew a little more syrupy and Grenache-like, with alcohols to match. Not so with this wine, which showcases not just the wild red cherry aromatics of Nerello Mascalese but its brisk, pomegranate seed freshness.” -Somm Select
